Role Overview:
As a Performance Development Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in advancing heavy-duty engine calibration. Your primary responsibilities will include:
Engine Testing & Calibration:
- Conduct powertrain testing and calibration for heavy-duty engines, focusing on performance and emissions control systems, as well as on-board diagnostic (OBD) algorithms.
Test Cell Operations:
- Manage world-class heavy-duty engine dynamometer test cells, ensuring the reliability and accuracy of data.
System Parameter Calibration:
- Adjust engine control system parameters for optimal performance.
Stakeholder Coordination:
- Collaborate with technicians and senior engineers to define requirements and achieve test objectives.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Perform tests to ensure compliance with US EPA and CARB standards for powertrain emissions and OBD.
Field Analysis:
- Analyze data from field trucks to support product development and resolve customer quality issues.
Travel:
- Be prepared for occasional domestic and international travel for troubleshooting, customer support, and specialized testing (e.g., summer, cold weather, high-altitude).
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
Experience: 3-5+ years in powertrain calibration, with knowledge of engines, transmissions, axles, and aftertreatment systems.
