Operations & Safety Specialist

A privately-owned and thriving high-technology business, focused on compressed air systems for industry, is seeking an Operations & Safety Specialist to be accountable for one or more sites located in proximity to each other.
Job Summary:
The Operations & Safety Specialist will provide oversight to satellite facilities, providing air as a utility to customer sites. This oversight includes meeting contractual customer performance requirements, implementing operating and maintenance procedures, and achieving safety, quality, performance, energy efficiency, and environmental objectives for the site. This position will also be the primary contact for day-to-day operational and maintenance tasks, requiring interaction with customer representatives to develop positive, productive working relationships. Additionally, the Operations & Safety Specialist will support construction, maintenance, and commissioning work activities at all sites as required.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct on-site inspections and monitor the compressed air system operation both locally and remotely.
* Implement preventive, predictive, and proactive maintenance programs.
* Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and quality assurance programs.
* Communicate with customers to coordinate plant production and maintenance activities.
* Schedule maintenance for instrumentation, electrical systems, compressors, dryer systems, pumps, valves, motors, and other plant equipment in line with guidelines.
* Periodically perform system walk downs to identify potential issues (e.g., minor leaks, erratic control, proper valve operation, proper condensate trap operation, strange noises, etc.).
* Schedule preventive maintenance tasks and any related support labor, and confirm their completion.
* Maintain the facility to ensure it presents a clean and professional appearance.
* Respond promptly to "Call Outs" to maintain the customer's compressed air supply.
* Maintain good working relationships with system vendors, manufacturers, and contractors.
* Follow proper management of change (MOC) protocols for set points, alarm and trip points, or other operating parameters.
* Document any preventive maintenance tasks, potential safety hazards, or low inventories (e.g., water chemicals, glycol, oil, filters, etc.) identified as part of the weekly activity report.
* Travel to various sites as required to support construction, commissioning, and maintenance activities.
Requirements:
* Associates Degree in a technical field, preferred
* Proven understanding of compressed air systems service and operation, including large centrifugal compressors, air dryers, instrumentation, and PLC/DCS control systems
* Must understand electrical principles for safe operation and repair of equipment
* Basic skills in mechanical system maintenance.
* Ability to use or learn various software systems, including MS Office.
* Up to 30% overnight travel required.
