Job Title: Facility Manager
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Facility Manager to oversee the operations, maintenance, and compliance of our facilities in the Greater Boston area. The ideal candidate will have 5 to 10 years of experience in facility management, with specific expertise in planning and managing manufacturing facilities, including cleanroom environments. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the facility, ensuring compliance with state safety regulations, and performing hands-on maintenance and repairs. This position requires a proactive and hands-on approach to managing all aspects of facility operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facility Planning & Setup: Lead the planning and setup of new facilities, with a particular focus on cleanroom environments for manufacturing operations. Ensure facilities meet operational needs while adhering to industry standards and regulations.
- Facility Maintenance & Repairs: Manage the daily maintenance and repair activities within the facility. Perform hands-on work in repairing building systems, maintaining equipment, and ensuring the overall cleanliness and safety of the facility.
- Compliance & Safety Regulations: Ensure that all facility operations comply with safety regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and local/state building codes. Keep up-to-date with changing regulations and implement necessary adjustments to remain compliant.
- HVAC & Systems Troubleshooting: Oversee HVAC system maintenance and troubleshooting. Ensure that all mechanical and electrical systems are functioning correctly and efficiently, resolving any issues that arise in a timely manner.
- Team Leadership: Work effectively both independently and with a small team to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the facility. Provide guidance and support to facility staff and contractors as needed.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external service providers and contractors. Ensure that any contracted work (e.g., cleaning, landscaping, repairs) is completed on schedule and within budget.
- Budgeting & Cost Control: Monitor and control the facility's maintenance budget, identifying opportunities for cost savings while maintaining high standards for quality and safety.
- Emergency Response & Crisis Management: Act as the lead for emergency facility issues, handling unexpected situations quickly and efficiently, minimizing disruptions to operations.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 5 to 10 years of experience in facility management, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Experience with cleanroom setups and operations is required.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems. Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues effectively.
- Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of safety regulations and compliance requirements for facilities, including OSHA, EPA, and local/state regulations related to building maintenance.
- Hands-on Skills: Proven ability to perform hands-on maintenance, repairs, and service work. Comfort with managing both large and small-scale facility tasks independently.
- Leadership Skills: Ability to manage small teams and work autonomously. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential for coordinating activities and ensuring the smooth operation of the facility.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, particularly in relation to facility systems and maintenance operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Facility Management (CFM or similar).
- Familiarity with energy-efficient building practices or sustainable facility management.
- Experience with facility management software or maintenance tracking systems.
