Job Summary: Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Engineering to lead their engineering team and oversee capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects. This role is pivotal in driving the strategic development and execution of engineering initiatives to support their growth and operational efficiency in the food production sector. The Director of Engineering will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technical staff.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration.
- Develop and implement engineering policies, standards, and procedures.
CAPEX Projects:
- Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of CAPEX projects.
- Ensure projects are aligned with company goals, budget, and timelines.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources effectively.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
Strategic Planning:
- Develop and execute the engineering strategy in alignment with the company's overall objectives.
- Identify opportunities for technological advancements and process improvements.
- Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for new projects and initiatives.
Operational Excellence:
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
- Optimize production processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Implement and maintain maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and longevity.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with production, quality assurance, supply chain, and other departments.
- Communicate engineering plans and updates to senior management and stakeholders.
- Support product development initiatives with engineering expertise.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field). A Master's degree or MBA is a plus.
- A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the food production or manufacturing industry.
- Proven experience managing CAPEX projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles, project management methodologies, and safety regulations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel up to 30% as required for project oversight and collaboration with other facilities.
