Position Overview:
The Senior Business Development Manager will play a key role in identifying and capitalizing on new business opportunities, fostering strategic relationships, and enhancing the company's market position within the air and ocean freight industry. This position requires a seasoned professional with extensive industry knowledge, a proactive approach to business growth, and the ability to develop and execute effective strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Growth & Market Expansion: Develop and implement comprehensive business development strategies focused on expanding air and ocean freight services in target markets.
- Client Relationship Management: Build and nurture relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders to secure long-term contracts and partnerships.
- Sales & Revenue Generation: Drive sales initiatives by identifying new business opportunities, preparing tailored proposals, and negotiating deals to meet or exceed revenue targets.
- Market Analysis: Conduct in-depth market research to identify emerging trends, competitive landscape, and potential areas for business expansion.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams including operations, marketing, and customer service to align client requirements with service offerings and ensure seamless delivery.
- Proposal Development: Prepare persuasive proposals and presentations, respond to RFPs, and participate in client meetings to effectively communicate the company's value proposition.
- Leadership: Mentor and guide junior business development team members, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Performance Monitoring: Track and report on business development metrics, using data-driven insights to refine strategies and optimize outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience in business development, sales, or account management within the logistics, air, or ocean freight sectors.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Industry Expertise: Deep understanding of the logistics market, particularly air and ocean freight, including key players, regulations, and market dynamics.
- Skills:
- Strong negotiation and sales skills with a proven track record of closing complex deals.
- Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.
- Proficiency in market analysis and strategic planning.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Language: Fluent in both German and English (additional languages are a plus).
